Hand block Printing flourished in Rajasthan from the 12th century and since then, this art has been happily passed on to the generations of artisans. A print is drawn on paper and then it is meticulously carved on a wooden block. The colours are prepared with natural colours and dyes. Each block is dipped in the colour and pressed hard on the fabric to make a clear impression. It is then dried in the sun, steamed and then dried again. Lastly, the fabric is ironed, packed and sent to you.

Most artisans use the rope-tied technique of shibori wherein a rope is tied to a bundle of fabric. Only the area that does not have the rope gets coloured, while parts under it resists.
